Sniper Elite V2 Demo Preview
Sniper Elite V2 is, as the name suggests a game about sniping. You play as an American sniper in the second world war, trying to stop the production of the Germans V2 missiles. This being the demo we only got to play part of a mission, but from what we've seen it's shaping up to be a great game. The controls are easy to use with a control diagram on the loading screen, while your American soldier is telling you what your doing.
It also has a quick explanation of how the bullet behaves and how you'll get a better shot while remaining still or lying down.
The main menu contains three difficulty modes. Cadet - The easiest mode, Marksman - Medium difficulty and Sniper Elite - which is incredibly hard.
It's nice to see that the enemy are fairly intelligent, and seem to find you after your first shot. There are also enemy Snipers that are more accurate the harder the difficulty. They can be located by the flash on the scope and the direction of the bullets.
The game works well, giving you more than just one gun to use. As well as your Sniper you get a Thompson Sub-Machine gun and a silenced hand pistol. Both of these have a fairly short range with limited ammo.
This game includes one of the best feature's that may have been incorporated into any shooter. When firing an accurate bullet the gameplay will go into a slow motion camera mode. This will show your shot and where it hit the enemy. Depending on where you hit them it will show internal organs exploding and the breaking of bones. A fantastic feature to be included in the game.
As this is the demo the game has a few glitches and frame rate issues. But of course we can expect them to be sorted out for the final release. From what we can see this is a fantastic game, we recommend you go and Pre-Order this game right now. Or if you're not sure why not download the demo. Available on the PSN and Xbox Live store for free.
As this is a first look we won't be completing a full review, however when the full game is released we'll be trying to get hold of a copy.
