MUD FIM Motocross World Championship Demo Preview
Mud is the latest title from the Italian studio Black Beans. The game/demo gives you (the player) the chance to live the life of a world class motocross rider. We thought we'd give you a brief look at what's in the demo and what's to be expected in the full game.
Once you've downloaded the demo (free on PSN and Xbox Live stores) installed and started it you can select two types of gameplay (Three including Multiplayer, yet it's not available in the demo build). Official mode and MUD UI.
Selecting Official Mode allows you to compete in a quick race event against AI in a 2 minute + 1 lap race around Glen Helen. (Only Track Available)
You get the chance to use the MX1 bikes with a selection of two pilots. Antonio Cairoli and Steven Fressard. (More pilots available in the final game) The difficulty level works well, and the AI are fairly intelligent.
MUD UI can be considered as your motocross career. In the demo build you only get the chance to play in a time trial. With the same track and types of bikes in Quick Race. However this is a great tool for practice.
We found the demo to be great fun. The menu's are simple, good looking and funky, as is the gameplay. There are some sight graphical and frame rate issues, but we can expect them to be resolved for the final release.
This game is particularly unique as we couldn't really compare it to anything. The closest we came too were the MX vs ATV series of games.
If your a massive fan of the biking games we recommend you download the demo and give it a go. The same to you if you just want to see what's it's like. However if your a big simracer, or fond of the superbike games you probably won't get on with this one too well.
Just a short first look at the MUD demo. If we can get hold of a copy of the full game when it's released we'll be trying to review the full game.
