Minecraft 360 Edition
As most PC gamers will know, Minecraft is a popular first person title where you're able to load your own server that is randomly generate with a map seed. Once you're there you can join up with friends and dig (mine) for different substances such as stone, gold, diamonds and lots more.
The Xbox 360 version, available through the Xbox live market place, can be purchased at 1600 Microsoft points (roughly £16). The whole game is very similar to the computer version but its on a super level. This is due to the fact that there hasn't been enough time for any updates or mods.
You're able to cut away trees and turn the wood, which you get from them, into wooden plants. The planks are useful for making shelters for the night. The crafting bench is one of the best features on Minecraft. It's made from four wooden planks (one wood block) and is used to make a variety of things to help you on your journeys. These include things such as armour, pickaxes and lots of other materials depding on the base materials you already have with you.
The game is made up of singe one by one blocks that are different colours and are difficult to cut through. This gives the platform a completely alternative look (one that we like). These 1X1 blocks can be arranged in a multitude of ways, to create great looking houses, ranging from a garden shed to a £70million mansion, that can be decorated by pictures, seats, lights, indoor pools, windows, different levels, beds, crafting tables and lots of other cool looking additions. However be careful of where you build your dream house, because anywhere that isn't lit by torches or a similar artificial, will allow creates to spawn and if your area isn't defended enough from other angles, the creatures can walk straight over to you and beat, shoot or blast you to death. This can be avoided by sleeping. In a bed that is safe inside a well lit environment. It is slightly disappointing that the game has no story mode or any objective at all, but with this type of genre it's not exactly a surprise. Occasionally, this leaves the game feeling dull and tiring, but if you're a budding constructors or designer, Minecraft is the game for you.
The game does have its flaws, although not as many as other games. There is the occasionally monster that, despite all warning, will be an annoyance and will spawn anywhere it chooses. This is incredibly as when sleeping, you aren't usually prepared for a zombie attack, causing a breakage of your armour. When you respawn at the bed you were last sleeping in, the creature is still there and you have it kill it with your bare hands. This is a very rare glitch but can occur hundreds of times in the same spot. If it does happen, place more torches around the area or defend your sleeping space better.
There are also the skins, (how your character looks) which are very limited and are set to player number, rather than choice.
Pros
The game is probably worth the amount of money it's priced at. But If you don't feel up for paying £16, there's a cheaper alternative called total miner, which is also available on the Xbox live market place (240 microsoft points). It's definitely not as good as the real thing but its enough for a whiles worth of entertainment.

Pros
- RandomMapSeeds- the way the map could look like anything makes possibilities for maps endless.
- The creatures: they keep the game different from just building, this makes it so much more fun to play. Even when creepers blow you up!
- Crafting- let's you build whatever useful tools you want as long as you have the items needed and the creations are very useful for builing/mining needs.
- Building potential- the amount of buildings, mineshafts, open fields, mountain huts and loads of other things you can build means there's a lot to do so it has unlimited game play.
- Blocks- there are so many blocks you build and dig and that keeps the game interesting because you can look for a rare bit of cold in an abandoned cave.
- No objective- this is something that makes the game not for everyone but even without a mission or two here and there, its still an interesting game.
- Random spawn monsters- this is very rare but if it isn't fixed, it quickly becomes a real problem and can make you just want to give up on your master piece, but with it being 1 in a 1million its not a major issue.
- Skins- because you can't choose how you look, it can get annoying when you see the same tennis player walk around you a hundred times.
- Updates- this will get better in time, but for now its the simplest version of Minecraft, that was on computer about a year ago with lots still to be done.
