Dirt Showdown Demo Preview
Dirt Showdown is to be the fourth game in the Dirt series. it will also be the first game to be released on the new Codemasters Racing label. This gives us the impression that this game will be highly concentrated on with no outside interferences. The official game is to be released on the 25th May in the UK. We got to play the demo version. Which is available for free on the PSN and Xbox Live store's. As well as Steam on the PC. Continue reading to see what's in the demo and what's to be expected in the final game.
The Dirt Showdown Demo contains two playable feature's. Showdown Tour and Multiplayer. The Showdown Tour includes one playable race. An 8 ball race. When you first start the demo only one car is available, but as you play the demo more you unlock several new cars which are available to play. All cars come with several different skins/layouts. All looking fantastic.
The race include's 7 AI cars and you. Making 8 players on the grid. The AI are intelligent, yet can make mistakes. This is what makes the whole experience better.
The aim of the 8 ball race is to win, no matter what. And because the layout of the track includes two crossover sections, that target is very hard too meet.
The in game menu is to be recognised by Dirt fans. Dirt Showdown brings across a ton of feature's from Dirt 3. The main feature being the Instant Replay and YouTube incorporation. The Instant replay works exactly as everyone remembers it, and if your new to the feature, it is super easy to use. The YouTube feature does not work in the Demo build, but as it's represented it will most probably work in the final game. Hopefully the chance to upload whole replays to YouTube will be included. That was a little bit of a disappointment in Dirt 3.
Once you have finished the race you get a chance to "Challenge A Friend" as long as you leave it long enough to go through the results. This opens up the opportunity to race online, even if your friend doesn't play the game.
The multiplayer feature in the demo build only allows you to enter yourself in one event. Demolition. This is where you will be put up against other players to see how many points you can score in the allotted time. This does seem easy but it's a lot harder than you think. People can get very competitive and are sometimes hard to match. This generates great enjoyment for you and the other players.
From what we've seen this is already a great game. However there are still a load of things to come. Here are just a few.
Even though this is the demo build we were really impressed with pretty much everything.
The graphics are amazing, we couldn't see any frame rate issues or glitches at all.
The menu's are clear, easy to navigate and look fantastic. Something we've all come a custom from Codemasters.
We presume that because the demo has an autosave feature, you can carry on where you left off in the full version. Something that seems fantastic
We cannot wait until the full game comes out. And fairly shortly afterwards we'll be trying to do a full review.

From what we've seen this is already a great game. However there are still a load of things to come. Here are just a few.
- Joyride - A single player mode that doesn't interfere with your career and allows you to practice. This also allows you to get a heads up on what might be coming up in your Career.
- Split Screen - Something that we all love and have come to expect from Codemasters
- Racenet - This is where you will be able to receive different challenges and compare yourself with your friends and the world.
